Use of Personal Information

We use the information that we collect to provide and maintain the Website as we deem appropriate in our sole discretion and to provide the Website and to provide any services that you and Cognyse agree to, which may include but not limited to:

• Create a user id to enable access to variety of information sources
• To set your preferences for the content on the Website and provide you the access
• To contact you and respond to your questions or requests
• To accept and process an application for a position at Cognyse or alumni portal
• To know and accept your interest of participation in various events, competitions and other initiatives organized by Cognyse and it’s partners from time to time

Cognyse may aggregate data that it obtains from Users to analyse trends, to gather data to benchmark best practices, and to monitor, improve and refine the functionality and performance of the Website and any services offered therefrom but such information will not directly identify Users to third parties.

We may also use the information to contact you to further discuss interest in Cognyse or the Service (including the products and services that we provide) and to send information regarding Cognyse or its partners, such as promotions, newsletters, contests, and events. We may outsource all or some of these tasks to third parties. However, your email address and any Personal Information will not be distributed or shared with third parties, unless it is to transact such business as you have contracted us to do, to comply with any legal processes and/or law enforcement requests, or in order to conduct any business as we, in our sole subjective discretion, deem reasonable.

Legal grounds of the processing

Cognyse generally collects and process the personal information necessary to fulfill your request or for the performance of a contract to which you are the party. This also applies to processing your personal information for legitimate business interest, such as:

• when you use our website or process your registration on the website in order to access information and participate in various events and activities
• To protect our IT systems from a malicious, fraudulent, or criminal activity
• To provide a customize online experience based on your preferences
• To improve the performance, usability and effectiveness of the website and associated resources
• To support and analyse our marketing activities including events and personalized campaigns
• To support recruitment activities

If you choose not to provide your Personal Information that is needed in order to process your request, we may not be able to provide the corresponding service to you.

Cognyse may share your data with third parties, including third-party service providers, business partners and other global entities of Cognyse for valid business reasons or to perform services for you. Please note, Cognyse does not sell your Personal Information to third parties. Further, Cognyse does not share your personal data with third parties for their direct marketing purposes. We may share your personal data, if it is required to fulfil a legal obligation or a legitimate business purpose where permitted by law.

To facilitate Cognyse’ global operations, the Company may transfer and access Data About Cognyse Customers from around the world, including the United States, Canada and India. This Privacy Statement shall apply even if Cognyse transfers Data About Cognyse Customers to other countries.

In the event of a merger, acquisition or sale of business, Cognyse reserves the right to sell or transfer User information (including Personal Information) as part of any such transaction. To the maximum extent allowable by law, the Privacy Notice will apply to the User information as transferred to the successor entity. However, User information submitted after a transfer to a successor entity may be subject to a new privacy notice adopted by the successor entity.

We may transfer certain Personal Information to countries outside the EEA to third parties working with us or on behalf of us or our own entities, including to countries which may have different data protection standards to those which apply in the EEA. The locations of Cognyse as of now are India and Canada with service providers/business partners in USA, Canada, and India.

For transfers to Cognyse’s global entities and service providers outside the EEA, your personal information will continue to be protected by way of standard contracts that are in place with these organizations outside of the EEA, containing standard data protection clauses which are in a form approved by the European Commission.

Cookies and Logs

This section describes how we use cookies and other tracking technologies on our website.

Cookies do not personally identify you. Cognyse uses cookies and session IDs to authenticate a User as he or she navigates various parts of the Website. Do Not Track

Do Not Track (DNT) is a privacy preference that users can set in some web browsers, allowing users to opt out of tracking by websites and online services. At present, the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) has not yet established universal standards for recognizable DNT signals and therefore, Cognyse do not recognize DNT and the Website is not presently configured to respond to DNT or “do not track” signals from web browsers.

Subject to the laws of your country, You have the right to access, correct, delete or transfer your Personal Information that we hold, including your profile and preferences. You also have the right to object to certain processing and, where we have asked for your consent to process your Personal Information, to withdraw this consent. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”), effective January 1, 2020, if you are a California resident, you have the right to request certain information about how we collect, use, and disclose your Personal Information. You also have the right to request the deletion of Personal Information, and the right to non-discrimination for the exercise of your privacy rights. Cognyse adopts reasonable and appropriate security policies and procedures including administrative, physical security, and technical controls in order to protect your Personal Information from unauthorised access.

Personal Information will not be retained for a period more than necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this privacy statement, unless a longer retention period is required by law or for directly related legitimate business purposes.

Cognyse may provide links to third-party websites and services. However, Cognyse is not responsible for the privacy statements, practices, or the contents of such third-party websites. We encourage users to review the privacy policy of each web site visited before disclosing any personal information.

Children’s Privacy

Cognyse understands and respects the importance of protecting children’s privacy, especially in an online environment. Our website is not intentionally designed for or directed at children under the age of 13. Our website does not knowingly solicit or collect or maintain personally identifiable information online from children under the age of 13 who are unaccompanied by his/her parent or except as part of an engagement to provide professional services.
